One of God's first commands was to look after the earth (Genesis 1:28).
The Frome River Action Group, initiated by Dorset Christian Fellowship, is currently engaged in a project in cooperation with Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) and the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to try to eliminate the invasive weed "Himalayan Balsam" (HB) from the Upper Frome Catchment area. We started in July 2018 with two days of action at ponds near the Frome River in Frome St. Quintin and carried out extensive surveys walking along the Frome and its tributaries, and contacted landowners to make them aware of the problem. In 2019 and 2020 we again carried out several days of action at ponds near the Frome River in Frome St. Quintin, did extensive work at Toller Gate, and removed HB from near the source of the Frome in Evershot itself. On 4th November 2019 Evershot Parish Council confirmed that Evershot Parish would make all efforts to be a Himalayan Balsam Free Area (HBFA). We hope that other Parish Councils will follow their example.
In 2021 with God's help we stopped regeneration of Himalayan Balsam in the Frome Quintin ponds and Toller Gate, and carried out extensive work along the Wraxall Brook from Rampisham through Wraxhall down to Sandhills.
